Nate grew up in the northland attending the North Kansas City School District. After graduating from Winnetonka, Nate attended the University of Central Missouri and graduated with a degree in social studies education. Nate has been teaching at Kearney High School since 2014 working as a Special Education and Social Studies Teacher. Nate and his wife Kaitlyn have 1 son, Hudson.
Nate started swimming in the Northland Swim Conference and has been part of the league for 20 years as both a swimmer and coach. During college, Nate coached the St. Pius X High School swim teams and had multiple all-state honorable mention relays as well as an all-state swimmer. Nate then took a job in Kearney as their head swimming coach and led the team to two 4th place and one 2nd place finishes at the MSHSAA State Swim Meet, in seven years. He coached 3 individual state champions, 2 state championship relay teams, and many all-state athletes while at Kearney.
As a swimmer, Nate was a 100 and 200 freestyle, while also specializing in the 100 and 200 backstroke. While Nate enjoys coaching all four strokes, nothing is as much fun as pushing and encouraging swimmers through a tough set. Nate has been coaching swimming since 2008 and is currently on staff with Club North since 2011. Nate enjoys working with all ages of swimmers and finds nothing more enjoyable than swimmers hitting their goal times and working through tough practices.
2025 Assistant Coaches
Nick Verwers: Assistant Coach
Hey everyone! I'm Nick Verwers and this will be my 4th season coaching for the Stingrays! I swam for the team every summer since I was 7 and have loved the last couple years coaching. I also swam club for multiple years and swam for the Staley swim team all four years of high school. I'm currently attending Northwest Missouri State University and am majoring Mathematics with an Emphasis in Data Science and will be graduating this year! Summer swim was one my favorite parts of growing up and my goal is to make sure that each swimmer on our team gets to enjoy the experience as much as I did. Here's to a fun season, it's gonna be great!
Hello! My name is Cassidy Boord. This is my 4th year with the New Mark Stingrays as an assistant coach but I have been a part of this organization for the majority of my life since I started swimming for the Stingrays at the age of 5. I also swam on the Varsity Girl's Swim and Dive Team at Staley for all four years of my high school career. I am currently attending Truman State University and am majoring in Nursing with minors in Child Studies and Disability Studies. I have loved being a part of watching the Stingray swimmers grow from year to year and can't wait to see what this third year brings. Go Stingrays!
