Nate Long

Nate grew up in the northland attending the North Kansas City School District. After graduating from Winnetonka, Nate attended the University of Central Missouri and graduated with a degree in social studies education. Nate has been teaching at Kearney High School since 2014 working as a Special Education and Social Studies Teacher. Nate and his wife Kaitlyn have 1 son, Hudson.

Nate started swimming in the Northland Swim Conference and has been part of the league for 20 years as both a swimmer and coach. During college, Nate coached the St. Pius X High School swim teams and had multiple all-state honorable mention relays as well as an all-state swimmer. Nate then took a job in Kearney as their head swimming coach and led the team to two 4th place and one 2nd place finishes at the MSHSAA State Swim Meet, in seven years. He coached 3 individual state champions, 2 state championship relay teams, and many all-state athletes while at Kearney.

As a swimmer, Nate was a 100 and 200 freestyle, while also specializing in the 100 and 200 backstroke. While Nate enjoys coaching all four strokes, nothing is as much fun as pushing and encouraging swimmers through a tough set. Nate has been coaching swimming since 2008 and is currently on staff with Club North since 2011. Nate enjoys working with all ages of swimmers and finds nothing more enjoyable than swimmers hitting their goal times and working through tough practices.
